Taking place from the 16th May to 16th June, National Smile Month aims to promote and raise awareness of good oral health and Ringmer Dental is getting involved in doing just that.
This year, the team at Ringmer Dental are holding a children’s fun day on Thursday 1st June 2pm-5pm for both current and new patients. So why not pop along and get a free children’s dental health check, oral hygiene and diet advice. All children will also receive an oral health goody bag and can be entered into our competitions for the best fancy dress, as well as our colouring competition. There will also be many other fun activities to get involved with.
A simple smile can be a very powerful tool. Here at Ringmer Dental, we want to ensure that you have the tools to ensure that your smile is always looking your best. It is very important that this starts from a young age, so we want to take the stress out of children’s dental appointments. By making the event as fun and imaginative as possible, we hope it will inspire children to get brushing and see looking after their teeth as an investment in their future.
The Oral Health Foundation has three key messages for oral health, that will be our focus for the day:
- Brush your teeth last thing at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste. The fluoride helps to strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay.
- Try to limit sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes, reducing the time the teeth come under attack from the sugars that can lead to tooth decay. A varied diet rich in vitamins, minerals and fresh fruit and vegetables can also help to reduce the risk of decay and gum disease.
- Visit your dentist as often as they recommend, for routine appointments. This ensures that any problems can be identified early, reducing the need for extensive dental treatment.
